Creative Craft Council Exhibit, 2011

The 28th Biennial Creative Craft Council show will open to the public on May 28th, 2011. The opening reception is at 7 PM on June 2 at Strathmore Hall in Bethdesda, Maryland. This is a juried exhibit with artists from all the craft groups, guilds, etc., in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
I will be delivering three art works to Strathmore Hall for this exhibit on Monday, May 23.
They are Summer Flowers Triptych shown here with a detail. The total size of these three panels is 14 inches high by 32 inches wide. The flowers on each panel are embroidered with free motion on the sewing machine and appliqued on black and white cotton fabrics that are stretched and framed.

This artwork is titled Wide Load and again is composed of free motion machine embroidery but this
time on painted canvas. The size is 35 by 31 inches. This theme demonstrates my enjoyment of putting images in unusual circumstances, kind of like putting a city in the country or vice versa.

Traveling From Dawn to Dusk is the title of this  quilted art work. Again free motion machine embroidery is employed. The suitcase has zippers to complete the pockets. The hand, handle, shoes and stockings as well as the two landscapes are all embroidered thread. The suitcase and red suit are appliqued on a painted blue canvas. Total size is 38 by 24 inches.
